HAPPY 47TH!

Discuss what you did today in celebration of Nigeria's 47th Independence via the comments!

*UPDATE*

After the parade, a group of hip-hop Naija artists took the stage to sing a remix to Rihanna's "Umbrella" and 50 Cent's "I Get Money." Also at the parade, I bump into Regina Askia, Oliver Mbamara, Sir Citor, Ebbe Bassey, Away Away, and Jim Iyke.

And here are some pictures taken from last year's Nigerian Independence Parade:

At Fusion Night club, the former beauty pageant queen Regina host the official Nigerian Independence Day Parade after party which bought out hip-hop icon Doug E. Fresh, Tony One Week, Jim Iyke, Nnenna from "America's Next Top Model", and Celestina.

To commemorate this historical event, I came across these three YouTube clips of the Nigerian Anthem sung live.

Because the benefits of being a Feels Good 2 B Home reader PAIDS, I hope you enjoy these flicks that I dug deep into my archives.

I can still recall the males reacting to Omotola's stage presence. HILARIOUS, I tell you, HILARIOUS!

Omotola is known for her song, "Dance":

Check out her official site for more on this event which was held at the Lovinger Theatre straight from Omotola.

47TH ANNUAL NAIJA INDEPENDENCE CELEBRATION

October 1, 1960 is the day Nigeria claimed its independence from British rule. New York City is the place to be celebrate being Nigerian. Feels Good 2 B Home obtained this flyer for those within the Tri-State area to come out and join in the fun:

Apparently this year's parade is happening on my birthday-Saturday, September 29th at 11 am. Location is the Nigerian House between 54th Street to 44th Street.

The three day celebration kicks off officially at MARS 2112 in Brooklyn.

Last year bought out Ramsey Noah, Omotola, Regina Askia, Ebbe Bassey, Nnenna of "America's Next Top Model" fame, and the stars of "This America." Regina Askia even held a fashion show to highlight the 46th annual celebration of Naija independence last year in the Big Apple.

Remember, Nigerian's actual independence is on a Monday! Wave that green white green flag with pride, folks! Feels Good 2 B Home hopes to see you there at the parade!

Regine Fashions benefit 2006

This October in the Big Apple, Nollywood actress and former Miss Nigeria Regina Askia held a fashion show to benefit children in Africa and former Nollywood stars Sir Citor of This America and Ramsey Noah were there as well. Feels Good 2 B Home's own Miss Chi Chi was there to give you all the exclusive scoop. I went backstage to met Ramsey hanging out with a huge entourage of performers from the event. Regina was busy running around backstage making sure each model looked right before they hit the stage. B'Clay hit the stage with Madarocka. When Ramsey came on stage I swear the room rock like New York City was experiencing an massive earthquake. (Knock on wood.) Check me out with B'Clay, Naija hip-hop artist, Ramsey, Sir Citor and Regina. {photo credit: Golden Studios, Inc.}
